Display the national colours of Burundi with a durable flag suitable for homes, gardens, balconies, schools, cultural events, sporting occasions and community celebrations. Made from 115 g/m² polyester, this Burundi flag combines a clear printed design with reinforced construction and convenient brass grommets for mounting.
Burundi Flag Design and National Meaning
The national flag of Burundi features a white diagonal cross that divides the background into four sections. The upper and lower sections are red, while the sections at the hoist and fly are green. A white circular disc appears in the centre and contains three red six pointed stars outlined in green. The stars are arranged with one above and two below.
The current design was adopted on 28 June 1967. Its colours and symbols reflect important parts of Burundi’s national identity:
- White represents peace.
- Green represents hope and future development.
- Red represents the struggle and sacrifices made for freedom and independence.
- The three stars represent the national motto Unity, Work and Progress. They are also traditionally associated with Burundi’s three main communities: Hutu, Tutsi and Twa.
Durable Polyester Construction
The flag is produced from lightweight yet durable 115 g/m² polyester. The material is water resistant and provides protection against UV exposure, making it suitable for indoor display and normal outdoor use.
