History of the Comoros Flag

The current national flag was adopted on 23 December 2001. It replaced an earlier predominantly green design while retaining the crescent and four stars that had appeared in different forms on Comorian flags since independence in 1975.

The present flag brought the colours associated with the four islands together in one design and placed the traditional crescent and stars within a green triangle on the hoist side.
