Display the national colours of Equatorial Guinea with a durable flag designed for homes, gardens, balconies, businesses, cultural events and international celebrations. Its distinctive design combines green, white and red horizontal stripes with a blue triangle and the national coat of arms.

Equatorial Guinea Flag Design and History

The national flag of Equatorial Guinea was first adopted on 12 October 1968, when the country gained independence from Spain. The design was altered in 1973, but the original national coat of arms was restored on 21 August 1979.

At the centre of the white stripe is the coat of arms, featuring a silk cotton tree, also known as a ceiba tree. Six yellow stars appear above the shield, while the national motto below reads “Unidad, Paz, Justicia”, meaning “Unity, Peace, Justice”.

Meaning of the Colors and National Emblem

  • Green: Represents the country’s forests, agriculture and natural resources.
  • White: Symbolises peace.
  • Red: Honours the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence.
  • Blue: Represents the sea connecting the mainland territory with the islands.
  • Silk cotton tree: A historic national symbol displayed on the coat of arms.
  • Six stars: Represent the mainland territory and the country’s five principal islands.

Made for Indoor and Outdoor Display

Available Equatorial Guinea Flag Sizes

Metric Size Approximate Imperial Size Recommended Use
50 × 75 cm 1.66′ × 2.50′ Small walls, windows, caravans and compact displays
60 × 90 cm 2′ × 3′ Balconies, bedrooms and smaller flagpoles
90 × 150 cm 3′ × 5′ Popular size for homes, gardens and standard flagpoles
120 × 180 cm 4′ × 6′ Larger outdoor displays, businesses and public events
150 × 250 cm 5′ × 8′ Festivals, large venues and high visibility displays

Choosing the Right Size

The 90 × 150 cm version is the most versatile choice for a home, garden or standard flagpole. The two smaller sizes work well where space is limited, while the 120 × 180 cm and 150 × 250 cm flags provide greater visibility at events, commercial venues and outdoor celebrations.

Single Sided Printing

The design is printed on one side of the fabric and remains approximately 90% visible from the reverse. Because the colour passes through the material, the design and coat of arms appear mirrored when viewed from the back.

Where Can the Equatorial Guinea Flag Be Displayed?

  • Homes, gardens, balconies and flagpoles
  • Equatorial Guinea Independence Day celebrations on 12 October
  • Cultural and community gatherings
  • African festivals and international events
  • Schools, classrooms and geography projects
  • Sporting events and supporter displays
  • Restaurants, travel agencies and international businesses
  • Collections and gifts for flag enthusiasts

Care Instructions

Wash at up to 30°C on a gentle cycle and allow the flag to air dry. Do not use bleach. Although the material is suitable for normal outdoor display, bringing the flag indoors during severe storms or exceptionally strong winds can help extend its useful life.

Green represents vegetation and natural resources, white represents peace, red recalls the struggle for independence, and blue represents the sea connecting the mainland and islands.
