Red and Yellow Landkreis Böblingen Flag with District Coat of Arms
Display the regional identity of the Stuttgart area with this Landkreis Böblingen flag. Its red and yellow colours and historic coat of arms connect the modern district with the Counts Palatine of Tübingen and the centuries-long influence of Württemberg.
This is the flag of Landkreis Böblingen, an administrative district in Baden-Württemberg. It should not be confused with the municipal flag of the city of Böblingen. The design is suitable for residents, regional associations, cultural events, German flag collections and everyone with a personal connection to the district.
From the Historic Oberamt to the Modern District
Landkreis Böblingen developed from the former Württemberg Oberamt Böblingen, whose history reaches back to the period of the Duchy of Württemberg. In 1938, the administrative area was reorganised as Landkreis Böblingen and received almost all municipalities of the dissolved Oberamt Herrenberg, together with several communities from the Stuttgart administrative territory.
The district was enlarged again during the Baden-Württemberg district reform of 1 January 1973. Fifteen municipalities from the former Landkreis Leonberg joined Böblingen, including Leonberg, Weil der Stadt, Renningen and Rutesheim. The municipality of Deckenpfronn was added from Landkreis Calw.
The administrative seat is the city of Böblingen. The district also includes Sindelfingen, Herrenberg, Leonberg and numerous municipalities situated between the Schönbuch nature area, the Upper Gäu and the outskirts of the Stuttgart metropolitan region.
The Württemberg Stag Antler and the Tübingen Banner
The Landkreis Böblingen coat of arms has a gold field with a horizontal black stag antler above a red three-lobed banner suspended from three black rings.
The red banner comes from the coat of arms of the Counts Palatine of Tübingen. This noble family founded or influenced several important towns in the region, including Böblingen, Sindelfingen and Herrenberg, before these territories became part of Württemberg.
The black stag antler is one of the best-known symbols of Württemberg. In the district coat of arms, it represents the area’s early and lasting historical connection with Württemberg.
The coat of arms was adopted on 18 April 1947. After the district was enlarged during the administrative reform, it was granted again by the Ministry of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg on 30 August 1974. The district flag uses the colours red and yellow.
Durable Polyester Flag for Indoor and Outdoor Display
The Landkreis Böblingen flag is made from durable 115 g/m² polyester. Reinforced edges and double stitched seams provide additional strength, while two rust-resistant brass grommets allow straightforward attachment to a flagpole, wall, balcony or another suitable mounting system.
