Berlin’s black and white flag before 1861
The black over white bicolour is associated with Berlin from 1618 to 1861, during its Brandenburg and Prussian history. In 1861, a black, red and white design followed. This earlier two-colour flag offers collectors a way to illustrate the development of Berlin’s civic symbols.

Frequently asked questions
What period does this Berlin flag represent?
The product reproduces the black and white design associated with Berlin from 1618 to 1861.
Does this version include the Berlin bear?
No. This design consists of two horizontal stripes, black above white, without a bear or coat of arms.
Can I display the flag outdoors?
Yes. The polyester fabric has UV protection and a water-resistant finish. Bring the flag indoors during strong winds or severe weather, and keep it clear of branches and abrasive surfaces.
How does the flag look on the reverse?
The single-sided print shows through with approximately 90% visibility. Because the design consists of plain horizontal stripes, black remains above white when viewed from either side.
How should I attach and clean the flag?
Use the two brass grommets with suitable clips or ties. Wash at 30°C and allow the flag to dry completely before storage.
